Dr. McCudden completed a Ph.D at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Following postdoctoral research fellowships at Duke and the University of North Carolina, he pursued a Clinical Chemistry Fellowship at UNC. Post-training, he continued on at UNC as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and as Associate Laboratory Director, Director of Special Chemistry, and Director of Blood Gas and Critical Care in the McLendon Clinical Laboratories. Subsequently, he returned to Canada and is currently a Clinical Biochemist at the Ottawa Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine for the University of Ottawa. He also serves as Laboratory Director for the Glengarry Memorial Hospital and Deep River & District Hospital within the Eastern Ontario Laboratory Association.
He currently serves as Board Member for the National Registry of Certified Chemists and remains active in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. He has co-authored over 50 peer reviewed publications. His research interests include automated chemistry, quality, nephrology, patient safety, serum protein electrophoresis, and laboratory informatics.
