Xiaoquan Li, PhD, MLT (CSMLS)

Medical Laboratory Scientist/MLT, Department of Microbiology, Mount Sinai Hospital affiliated with The University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dr. Xiaoquan Li attended West China University of Medical Sciences, where he achieved BS in Medical Laboratory Science and MSc in Dental Science. Later he completed his PhD in Clinical Laboratory Science from Southern Medical University. Dr. Li served as Senior Technologist, Researcher and Supervisor in Department of Microbiology and then Vice Director in Department of Virology, Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Awarded by the 30th Japan-China Sasakawa Medical Fellowship, he did his research as a Visiting Researcher Scholar in Department of Bacteriology I, National Institute of Infectious Disease, Tokyo, Japan from 2007 to 2008. 

Currently he works as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/MLT in Department of Microbiology, Mount Sinai Hospital affiliated with The University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Department of Microbiology is a collaborative laboratory operation between Sinai Health System and the University Health Network (UHN). He is a practicing member of both Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO). 

He has published six articles in peer reviewed journals as the first author and three book chapters including The Medical Encyclopedia of China. His main areas of research include virology and immunology of Dengue Virus, molecular subtyping and epidemiology of Vibrio Cholerae enterohemorrhagic E. coli O157:H7.
