Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology in the Medical Faculty, University of Sassari, Sassari, Italy

Prof. Ciriaco Carru, was born in Bitti (Sardinia – Italy) on the 7th of September 1962. He graduated in Biology in 1988 and he specialized in Microbiology and Virology, in 1992 at the University of Sassari (Italy). He become Research Scientist of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology in 2001 and Associate Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology, at the University of Sassari, Italy in 2006. He has published over 160 articles in peer reviewed journals and he spoken at both national and international conferences. Since 2013 he chaired the Specialization School in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Clinical Biology at the University of Sassari. Since 2016 he became a corresponding member, and since 2017 a Full Member of the EFLM (European Federation for Laboratory Medicine) Working Group for the Congresses and Postgraduate Education (WG-CPE) - European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM). His main research interests are in genetic and metabolic analysis of human longevity.

In particular, he taken part at the steering committee of the international scientific group named AKEA that study “The Sardinia centenarians as a model of the healthy ageing”. His interest address also in the biomarkers discovery in age related diseases, in COPD and in renal diseases.
