Prof. Aldo Clerico took the Degree in "Medicine and Surgery", with full marks (110/110 cum summa laude) at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pisa. He took the postgraduate degrees in Endocrinology (with full mark, 1975), Nuclear Medicine (1978) and Sport Medicine (with full mark, 1987). He was a winner of the National Qualification for Full Professor for General Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (17 June, 2014).

He is the coordinator of the Study Group of Cardiovascular Biomarkers of the Italian Section of the European Ligand Assay Society (ELAS) and SIBioC (Società Italiana di Biochimica Clinica e Biologia Moleolare Clinica). He is Scientific Coordinator of the Spin-off of the CNR (Centro Nazionale delle Ricerche) QualiMed Lab.

Prof. Aldo Clerico is interested in studies concerning the neuroendocrine regulation of cardiovascular system. He is also an expert in evaluation and comparison of immunoassay methods for the measurement of some circulating biological factors, such as several hormones and cardiovascular biomarkers. In collaboration with the CNR Spin-off QualiMedLab, he organizes External Quality Assessment (EQA) studies on thyroid hormones and cardiovascular biomarkers.

He is the author of (original articles and abstracts) with more than 5560 citations by Scopus (H-index: 40 with 330 listed articles, in date June 16, 2017). He participated in more than 130 National or International Scientific Congress as speaker or chairman.
