Dr Maria (Marianna) Dalamaga, Clinical Pathologist, is currently Associate Professor of Biological Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), School of Medicine. Dr Dalamaga graduated with high distinction from the University of Ioannina Medical School, received a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from Harvard University School of Public Health (Boston, MA, USA) and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the National School of Public Health in Athens-Greece. She obtained a PhD degree from the NKUA School of Medicine in cooperation with the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. Dr Dalamaga completed her residency in Medical Biopathology (Clinical Pathology)/Laboratory Medicine) at NIMTS and Evangelismos General Hospitals (Athens, Greece) with a fellowship in Clinical Biochemistry awarded from the European Board of Medical Biopathology, UEMS. She has been working in the Laboratory Departments of several big hospitals in Greece (Attikon University Hospital, NIMTS, Evangelismos, IASO General Hospital, etc).

She is the recipient of 35 Greek & International awards including the First Class Award in Science from the Athens Academy and the Fulbright research award for Visiting Scholars in order to undertake research at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital. She is editorial board member, Associate Editor and Section Editor of several prestigious international peer-reviewed journals, being recently appointed as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Metabolism Open (Elsevier editions) published in association with the prestigious journal Metabolism. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Hellenic Society of Medical Biochemistry and as National Representative in the EU COST Action Proposal Submission, Evaluation, Selection and Approval procedure in Medicine. She has co-authored more than 180 peer-reviewed articles in international peer-reviewed journals and supplements (IF: 711, h-index: 27) and 24 monographs, books and chapter books. She has been an Invited Speaker in more than 100 conferences. Her current research interests focus on biomarkers, metabolism and obesity.
